Why wood...


 

Utilisation of timber is considered [one of] the answers to climate change... 

 

Wood absorbs CO2 from the atmosphere, emitting oxygen and storing the carbon internally.

 

For every tonne of wood produced, there is 1.8 tonne of CO2 removed from the atmosphere.

 

Roughly 50% of the weight of dry timber consists of carbon, this is held back from the atmosphere when locked into wooden products, highlighted well here....

Wood is renewable, therefore sustainably sourced, or reclaimed timber (like used here) creates a cycle of the further reduction of carbon. It also requires very little energy to produce, an important green point that is often overlooked, illustrated below...
